I spy with my beady eye...

I'd like to introduce you all to my third-eye ring! It is completely made by hand by the lovely lady at 'MagPie in the Sky' aka my mum! This was one of my Christmas present off her, I'd said to her that I wanted an evil eye ring after seeing some pretty freaky-deaky ones on-line. My mum has been making jewellery for a few years now and is completely self-taught. She mainly uses vintage charms and findings that she collects herself at fairs and antique markets. She is busily preparing for her on-line launch which should be happening in a few months if all goes to plan. 'MagPie in the sky' also creates beautiful custom orders. If you have a vision about a unique piece of one-of-a-kind jewellery my mum can make it happen. Add her Facebook page :)

The ring itself is made from a vintage Japanese doll eye, brass and copper wiring and beads. It's in a 'Steampunk' style. For those of you who don't really know what Steampunk is I suggest that you type it into Google and have a mooch. I did and I'm a huge fan ever since :)

Good old Wikipedia's definition:
"Steampunk is a sub-genre of science fiction, alternate history, and speculative fiction that came into prominence during the 1980s and early 1990s.Specifically, steampunk involves an era or world where steam power is still widely used—usually the 19th century and often Victorian Era Britain—that incorporates prominent elements of either science fiction or fantasy. Works of steampunk often feature anachronistic technology or futuristic innovations as Victorians may have envisioned them; in other words, based on a Victorian perspective on fashion, culture, architectural style, art, etc. This technology may include such fictional machines as those found in the works of H. G Wells and Jules Verne or real technologies like the computer but developed earlier in an alternate history."

P.S please excuse my retired-looking hands! they do not like winter...
