LUSH GORILLA PERFUME EVENT!

Hello :)
So this post is a little on the late side but 'better late than never' is becoming a bit of a motto for me.
A few weeks ago the lovely Danielle from 'A Blog From Blackpool' invited myself and a few other north-west bloggers for a night of perfumery and cocktails at Kuckoo bar in Preston. The event was to showcase Lush's new 'volume' of Gorilla perfumes. I have smelled quite a few of the ones from the previous launch so I was excited to see what Lush had come up with this time round.

Before the event I met up with Claire and we headed to Moka for a bit of after-work food. Oh my gossh the tapas there is delicious and really reasonably priced. I always tend to forget about Moka but I'll definitely be visiting there more often.

We then entered Kuckoo which is my favourite cocktail bar in Preston and we perused over the cocktail menu. I decided to go for the Caramac cocktail which was amazing! The perfect dessert :) We then had a little chat with the other ladies before being separated into small groups to have a tour of all the scents.

Each perfume had it's own little area in the bar set out with matching props and testers to really evoke the story of each scent. The perfumes aim to be different and excite the senses by using more unusual notes. The packaging and artwork on each bottle was really cute. I wish I had written down more stories as there was so much to take in about each scent!
Lush say the Gorilla perfumes are 'An antidote to boring mass-market scents and a movement to get people excited about good quality perfume'
Personally I like perfumes that are different. I'm not the kinda girl who goes for pretty, floral, classic scents. A few of the Gorilla perfumes have Sandalwood as their top note which is one of my favourite essential oils.
My favorite of them all was 'The Voice Of Reason' which is a smokey scent inspired by the beat generation and has notes of coffee and tonka bean mixed with the sandalwood. However the next day my skin had come out in a rash :( They did mention that this perfume was very potent and wasn't ideal for everyday wear but it is a shame. However don't let that put you off at all as I do have quite sensitive skin!
If you like scents that aren't too crazy, Sun and Furze were gorgeous summery scents that are very sweet with citrus and floral notes.

The event was really interesting and different to anything else that I've attended before. The very talented Kiki Deville kept us entertained with her vintage style cover songs all night. There was some brilliant poets too. Very contemporary and political which reiterated the atmosphere of the night. All in all it was a great night with lovely company, perfume & cocktails what more could a girl want? I also finally got to meet Catherine from 'Lady Liquor Vintage;' who I have been chatting to online for years now which was niice.
We were treated to a personalised goody bag which was a lovely touch. Danielle had written a little note inside each one explaining why she had chosen the products for us which I thought was very sweet :) I can't wait to try all the products. I have used a few before, the Shimmy Shimmy bar is a favourite and The Godmother soap smells exactly like Snowfairy which is yummy! I'd never tried Lush Make-up before but I'm really impressed with the 'Independent' liquid eyeliner and the 'Drive' lipstick is such a gorgeous colour.
We also managed to be papped and ended up on the front page of the local newspaper! I have stolen this photos off Claire's Instagram as I wasn't able to find a copy booo!
Thanks to Danielle & the Preston Lush store for hosting such a great event.
Have you tried any of the Gorilla perfumes before?
Thanks for reading :)
