Samlesbury Hall

Today Mikey and I visited Samlesbury Hall which is just a few miles outside Preston. Its free entry to a lot of heritage sites from 8th-11th September so I thought we'd hop on the bus and make a little trip of it! Admittedly the weather was not the best, it had been raining all night and all morning so we were a little bit soggy to say the least. Also the stoopid bus driver didn't tell us where the stop was (I did ask nicely) and he drove way past it meaning that we had to walk along the banking by the side of the road for about a mile in the pouring rain! Not a great start but when we finally got there the house looked beautiful, It was built in the 1300s and has the typical black and white style Tudor architecture. I also found out that it had been featured on an episode of 'Most Haunted' so I had my eyes peeled for anything remotely creepy...

The decor was amazing, the fireplaces & chandeliers were so beautiful! There is also an antiques centre and quite a lot of the furniture in the house is for sale too, cue me sitting on every chair, chaise and throne in the place!

After a well deserved mocha and scone with jam & cream we ventured out into the grounds surrounding the building. I fell in love with the piggies! Also these cheeky little goats were so excited to see us that two of them jumped right out of their pen! The house is very close to the main road so I was terrified that the teeny goats were going to run away. Mikey promptly ran off to try and find someone to help whilst I was left holding on to the goats by their collars and feeding them leaves! They were really cute though and it wasn't long before someone came to rescue them. I would've happily carried them back on the bus and kept them in the flat as house goats!
